Simple DIY projects and affordable home ideas that support a healthier, more functional space without overcomplicating things

Hi, I'm Brooke

My interest in making healthier swaps started during my own health journey. After struggling with PCOS and weight loss, I began paying closer attention to the products I was using in my home and daily routines.

What I quickly realized was that trying to change everything at once wasn’t sustainable. What did help was focusing on small, realistic changes that felt manageable and made sense for my life.

Along the way, I also started doing a lot of things myself, including simple DIY projects around the house, making things like body care and home products, and finding affordable decor that still feels good to live with.

Life.styleswaps is where I share what I’ve learned, what I use, and what I genuinely find helpful, so you can make informed choices at your own pace and decide what works best for you.

Brands I use & Trust

These are brands I personally use and feel comfortable recommending. Some links may be affiliate links, and others are simply brands I genuinely trust.

I use Oliveda daily, morning and night. I like that it’s clean skincare that actually performs, and I appreciate that they also focus on supporting skin from the inside out with their daily internals.

Just Ingredients is my go-to for protein powders and electrolytes. I appreciate their ingredient transparency, that nothing is artificial, and that everything is made using real food. I also use their tooth powder and mouthwash daily, and I really respect Karalynne’s story and how the brand started.

I use Primally Pure mainly for their tallow-based balms and creams. They’re simple, deeply moisturizing, and made with ingredients that feel supportive to the skin without a long or overwhelming ingredient list.

I keep Active Skin Repair on hand for everyday cuts, burns, and bug bites. I like that it supports the skin’s natural healing process instead of just coating it with something heavy. My husband welds for a living, so this has been especially helpful for minor burns around the house, but it’s something we reach for just as often for small cuts and skin irritations.

Beauty by Earth makes the best self tanner I’ve used. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t streak, and doesn’t turn you orange. I like that they use better-for-you ingredients and that everything is made in the USA. Their tanning drops are my favorite because I can mix a couple drops with my moisturizer for a really natural glow.

Beekeeper Naturals is my go-to when I’m traveling or during cold and flu season. I work in the medical field, so I’m around a lot more germs than most, and it’s something I like to keep on hand. I also love that they offer things like cough drops that actually taste good, which feels like a bonus when you’re already not feeling great.

Leefy was one of the very first swaps I made, and it’s something I still keep on hand along with Nidra. I tend to reach for Leefy when I’m dealing with headaches or during that time of the month, and I use Nidra after hard workouts or when I’m traveling and want help winding down for sleep. I like that their products are USDA organic and come in liquid tincture form, which makes them easy to use.

Little Seed Farm is the natural deodorant I recommend most. It works well enough that even my blue-collar husband uses it, and every time I suggest it to someone who says they can’t find a natural deodorant that works, they come back loving it too.

Truly Free gives that familiar “Tide-like” laundry smell without the ingredients I try to avoid. It cleans well, even with my husband’s grease-covered work clothes. The only downside is that it’s subscription-based, which may not be for everyone.

I use Thrive Market for pantry staples because finding better-for-you options locally isn’t always easy where I live. The pricing is still reasonable for the quality, even with the annual membership, and I also love their store-brand dish soap.
